Albuquerque, New Mexico
Opportunity starts with an assist.
Southwest Suns helps young people in Albuquerque participate, prepare, and thrive through youth sports.
Our purpose and responsibilities
Opportunity starts with an assist.
Southwest Suns works to reduce barriers to meaningful youth-sports participation and development through direct athletic opportunity, girls' participation pathways, practical preparation support, and coach learning.
A connected way to think about youth-sports opportunity.
PARTICIPATE: Southwest Suns Basketball and Get Her in the Game create direct participation and development pathways.
PREPARE: Game Day Fuel addresses a practical readiness barrier through structured program delivery.
THRIVE: Coach Development helps coaches practice decisions that shape the quality of the youth-sports environment.
Programs first. Evidence next. Support in the right place.
Southwest Suns defines programs around mission purpose and delivery, not around fundraising campaigns. We aim to explain what each program does, who it serves, what evidence exists, and how people can participate or partner before asking for financial support.
Charitable resources stay under Southwest Suns' responsibility.
Southwest Suns' current charitable fundraising campaign is Game Day Fuel. Campaign gifts support approved Game Day Fuel purposes, including pregame food, snacks, hydration, purchasing, delivery, and reasonable program coordination. Southwest Suns selects eligible cohorts and controls purchasing and delivery. Contributions are not gifts to an individual athlete or passed through to a team. Funds remaining after the first $1,100 milestone remain available for approved Game Day Fuel purposes.
Trust should come from clarity, records, and responsible decisions.
Southwest Suns is governed by a board of directors and maintains organizational records appropriate to its nonprofit responsibilities. Public claims should be tied to verifiable evidence, and relationships with donors, sponsors, partners, participants, and institutional customers should be described according to what they actually are.
Dignity over pity. Development over transactions.
Southwest Suns does not define young people by financial circumstances. We describe barriers honestly, design program responses around those barriers, and keep participation, preparation, learning, and development at the center of the story.
